in the upcoming term. california's proposition 8 is not on that list. ktvu's brian flores is in san francisco to tell us what that means for same-sex marriage here in california. >> reporter: hi, dave, good morning. it appears for now that opponents of proposition 8 will have to wait until the end of the week for any decision on this from the u.s. supreme court. we were waiting to hear some decision. but it appears the supreme court will at least delay it until about friday, though. the key was whether the prop was gonna be on their cases. now, if that happens, that means the decision won't come until june. this postpones any decision until later this week. come friday morning, we'll be at this to see if the supreme court agrees with the lower court on whether gay marriage is unconstitutional or if they will keep prop 8 as voted on back in 2008. a lot of reac-- a lot of reaction from the castro district. we'll stay on this. back to you. >> thank you. now, our washington, d.c. newsroom is also following this. coming up at 7:15, we'll have more analysis of what this morning's developments could

to san francisco research to clear up. give yourself extra time. >> hayward firefighters investigate an apartment fire that happened here dickson street and the bay of this the avenue this morning. that is where we find jackie sissel to tell us about what happened with the fire. >> everyone got out ok and that is a good news. the damage is done to these two- story apartment. right here you can see the bottom floor and as i cannot even see the top floor. both are from the same unit and they were lucky to get out. here is a video shot by the hayward fire department your ride on the scene around 4:00 a.m.. that is one that got the call of the fire at the 29,000 block of dickson street. a multi unit apartment complex. they did indeed find a fully engulfed unit and upstairs and downstairs. at that point they were told to people at self evacuate it. a mother and son had gotten out of the apartment but unharmed. they were ablenock on the flames relatively quickly. it only went to a single alarm. they do say that some smoke and water damage occurred at a nearby apartment. that had four peopl

in downtown san francisco this weekend. traffic is higher than usual with shoppers and drivers packing the area in and around union square. more now from kron four's jeff bush who braved the holiday crowds. >> traffic has been crazy down here at union square but those who chose to drive had to be patient because it's been a slow roll all day long. the drive down oferrel street was a slow motion affair and it took several cycles of the traffic lights just to move a block. it was a convergence of pedestrians and other drivers and total gridlock was often the case at any given intersection within a mile of the square.
